PEORIA, Ill. — There have now been 30 homicides in Peoria this year.
The latest is the death of a baby born after a shooting last month. Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood is confirming details this afternoon.
You’ll remember 22-year-old Breannia Webster was shot in the arm September 20th in the 200 block of West Ann Street.
We understand she was around 6 months pregnant at the time.
Harwood says after the shooting doctors at OSF Medical elected to remove the woman’s baby via C-Section in order to protect it.
Jamiyla Bre’yelle Webster-Carlton lived another 23 days until finally passing away on October 13th.
The 22-year-old mother survived the whole ordeal.
Harwood confirms the baby’s death is now being treated as a homicide, although he does not have the final autopsy report.
There was no suspect information released in the case at the time of the shooting.
Police nor the State’s Attorney have released any further information.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says the death of the baby born to 22-year-old Breannia Webster is being investigated as a homicide because of the manner the baby was born.
Webster was shot in the arm September 20th in the 200 block of West Ann Street.
An autopsy on the baby is pending.
