CEDAR RAPIDS, Ia. – The season is over for the Peoria Chiefs.
After clinching a playoff berth with a few games left to go in the regular season, the Chiefs lost in the first round of the playoffs.
Cedar Rapids took the last two games of the opening round series from the Chiefs, losing 9-3 to the Kernels Friday night. The Chiefs could not recover from a four run first inning by Cedar Rapids.
The Chiefs end the season, though, with their first playoff win since 2018, and had 69 wins overall.
The Midwest League Championship Series starts Sunday in Michigan.
The Chiefs say they’ll release their 2024 regular season schedule next week.
