PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria-area gas prices took another drop in the last week, even as analysts said their projections of a below-$3 per gallon national average by Christmas had to be scaled back.
GasBuddy.com’s weekly average of Peoria filling stations has the average price of a gallon of unleaded at $3.06 – a decline of 5.7 cents in the last week.
AAA’s Peoria-Pekin Metro Average, meanwhile, is at $3.08 – a nickel lower than a week ago.
GasBuddy says the national average price of $3.13 could be going up again, partly because of the Federal Reserve’s decision to leave interest rates unchanged, along with the recent attack on Houthi vessels in the Red Sea.
They now say prices may ease a bit nationally, but could also go slightly higher before too long.
