SOMONAUK, Ill. – The U.S. The Geological Survey says a 3.4-magnitude earthquake hit Illinois early Monday morning.
It happened at approximately 2:53 a.m. near Somonauk, Illinois, in Southern DeKalb County.
The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office posted on its Facebook page that people in the area were woken up by their houses shaking.
While there were no reports of damage from the quake, the western suburbs of Chicago may have felt it, including Yorkville and Oswego.
