PEORIA, Ill. (25 News) – The new Peoria Public Schools District 150 Deputy Superintendent said she is looking forward to leading the district along with the Superintendent, Dr. Jerry Bell.
As she takes on leadership, Deputy Superintendent Dr. Renee Andrews said she and Bell are prioritizing finances this year.
“We want to make sure that we are good stewards of the public’s money and that the money is being funneled to programs and opportunities that directly impact our students,” she said.
Andrews also said that safety is a major focus for the upcoming year and encouraged parents to reach out if they have concerns, questions, or needs.
“We want to make sure that we’re not just doing what we know will keep them safe, but working with our parents, students, and the community so that there is a feeling of safety when they come into our buildings,” she said.
Andrews also encouraged parents to check their emails to stay up to date on events and important school requirements, like the Oct. 15 vaccination and physical deadline.
She said parents can reach out to the district and their partners regarding questions or if school supplies are still needed.
School begins Aug. 5.
