On this day in 1927… construction officially began on “Mount Rushmore”… Cuz apparently the BEST WAY to honor our Greatest Presidents, was to carve their faces onto a tiny mountain, in one of least-populated states in the country
Today, it’s considered one of America’s most iconic landmarks, and ALSO…. the place where Nicolas Cage found the “Lost City Of Gold” in “National Treasure 2”
But even though Mount Rushmore is one of the most famous National landmarks…it’s hardly alone…. this country has over 130 of ’em, dotted from coast to coast
