PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria County grand jury has indicted a Peoria man on three counts of First-Degree Murder.
The grand jury also indicted Walter Artis, Jr., 26, on counts of Home Invasion and Aggravated Battery — all for the death several days after the shooting of Alexis Boland, 22, of Princeville.
Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins — who wanted the murder charges — accuses Artis of breaking into Boland’s Dunlap apartment April 14th before fleeing the scene.
He was found near a Morton gas station later the morning of the shooting.
Artis is jailed on $2.5 million bond. He’s scheduled to be arraigned Thursday morning.
