PEORIA, Ill. – An automatic sprinkler system did just what it was supposed to in suppressing a fire at a downtown Peoria business Saturday morning.
Peoria firefighters responded to Kenny’s Westside Pub on Jefferson Street around 10:30 a.m. for a kitchen fire.
They say the sprinkler system had already put the fire out by the time crews arrived, so that left them with shutting down the sprinkler system, isolating the electricity, and getting smoke out of the pub.
The fire was deemed to be accidental, and damage was estimated at $15,000
Kenny’s will be allowed to reopen, officials say, once it’s been cleaned, and once the health department has done an inspection.
No one was hurt.
