UPDATED 1:23 P.M.
MASON CITY, Ill. – Classes are canceled at some schools in the Illini Central School District, after someone made violent threats for the second day in a row – threats police say are now “swatting.”
25 News reports there was an extra police presence in the district’s schools after threats were made Tuesday.
Then, Wednesday night, someone joined the school district’s board meeting via Google Meet and made more threats, with police saying pornographic images also were shown. That resulted in the cancellation.
Police saying the threats weren’t credible, and are believed to have come from Florida.
Meanwhile, finals that were to be given Wednesday at the high school will instead be given on January fourth.
