COAL VALLEY, Ill. – Almost 6,800 pounds of uncooked beef patties and ground beef produced by an Illinois-based company has been recalled due to a risk of E. coli contamination.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture says the beef was produced at Valley Meats in Coal Valley, Illinois, on December 22, then shipped to retailers in parts of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa and Michigan.
The ground beef and patties were packaged with the number “e-s-t-5-7-1-2” where the USDA mark of inspection is located.
The USDA says the contamination was found during routine testing. So far, no illnesses have been reported.
