MORTON, Ill. – Multiple promotions have occurred in the Morton Police Department, one of which is a new police chief.
Shawn Darche was sworn in as the new Chief of Police Tuesday. He was appointed to the role after the retirement of Jason Miller.
Miller was a 28-year veteran of the Morton Police Department, the past three-and-a-half years as chief. His numerous roles at the department included Deputy Chief, Patrol Sergeant, and school resource officer.
Also on Tuesday, Steve Brock was promoted to Deputy Chief, and Aaron Rowe was promoted to Sergeant.
In a social media post, the department says the decision “reflects the Village of Morton and the Morton Police Department’s commitment to recognizing and rewarding dedicated officers who have consistently demonstrated exceptional commitment and competence.”
