CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Drought conditions are improving across central Illinois.
The latest US Drought Monitor report released on Wednesday shows all of Peoria and Tazewell Counties in abnormal dry conditions.
Most of Woodford County is at the same level, apart from about 2.5% in the far northeastern portion of the county in moderate drought.
Last week, almost all of Peoria and Woodford Counties were experiencing moderate drought, with Tazewell only having less than 3% at the same level.
Overall in Illinois, moderate drought conditions were seen in about 19% of the state, down from 43% last week.
Most of that area is along the Wisconsin border in northern Illinois, as well as portions of east central Illinois and the Illinois Valley.
