PEORIA, Ill. – A man will spend the next 40 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the Sept. 2022 shooting that left another man dead.
Lamarion Wright, 19, was also sentenced to three years of supervised release.
He must serve 100% of his sentence. He is also getting credit for 990 days of time served.
25 News reports the 2022 shooting left 46-year-old Christopher L. Tillman dead. It happened around 9 p.m. Sept. 20, 2022, near the then-Taft Homes in Peoria.
It was Peoria’s 18th homicide that year.
Peoria Police were called to the 600 block of Northeast Adams Street, finding Tillman shot four times – three in the back and once in the right arm.
He later died at a hospital.
Surveillance video later obtained by police showed Wright, identified by an officer and witness, can be seen with a gun in his hand, running after Tillman and shooting him.
Wright was 16 years old at the time of the murder and was automatically charged as an adult, due to his age and the charge.
