TAZEWELL COUNTY, Ill. (25 News) – A Washington man’s nursing license has been suspended, but it’s possible he won’t spend any time behind bars after pleading guilty to a reduced charge of sexually abusing a minor.
25 News reports that 49-year-old Brian Minassian was placed on two years of sex offender probation, which includes not having contact with the victim or anyone under 18. Minassian also cannot view sexually explicit material online or participate in chat rooms.
Judge Chris Doscotch also sentenced Minassian to six months in the Tazewell County Jail, but Minassian won’t go to jail if he follows probation rules.
A Washington Police investigation found that Minassian inappropriately touched the minor. A court document shows the victim felt scared, froze, and didn’t say anything during the abuse.
Minassian pleaded guilty to criminal sexual abuse, a Class 4 felony, reduced from the initial charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony.
Online records with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation indicate Minassian’s nursing license was temporarily suspended in September last year for failing to comply with an order that a chaperone be present while he’s with patients. The records said the chaperone order was put in place because of the sex abuse case against him.
