PEORIA, Ill. – Gas prices in Peoria have dropped almost two cents a gallon in the last week, averaging $3.33 on Monday, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 148 gas stations in Peoria.
Prices in Peoria are little over 3.5 cents higher than a month ago and 15 cents lower than this time last year.
GasBuddy says the cheapest gas in Peoria on Sunday was $3.19 a gallon, while the most expensive gas was $3.49. The lowest price in the state was $2.82 and the highest price was $4.79.
The national average price of gas has dropped 3.6 cents a gallon in the last week, averaging $3.12 on Monday. That’s down 1.8 cents from last month and 2.8 cents lower than a year ago.
“While gas prices fell in more states than they rose last week, the West Coast continues to face challenges, with Oregon and Washington seeing some of the largest increases due to regional infrastructure issues,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “The good news is that the transition to cheaper winter gasoline begins tomorrow across most of the nation, and with improvements underway in the West Coast market, I expect that average gas prices will continue to decline in the weeks ahead in most states— assuming hurricane season remains quiet.”
Meanwhile, AAA Illinois says the average price of gas in the Peoria/Pekin metro area on Monday was $3.34, the state average price was $3.44 and the national average price of unleaded gas was $3.17.
