PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Police arrested a man Thursday afternoon for reportedly shooting another man at a convenience store.
Police Spokesperson Semone Roth says officers were called to the University Convenience Foodmart just before 1 p.m. at University Street and Gift Avenue on reports of shots fired inside the store.
Officers found a 19-year-old man with a graze wound on his leg. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Detectives identified 20-year-old Rico Jackson, Jr. as a suspect. Just before 2:45 p.m., Jackson Jr. was found on W. Margaret Avenue between N. Isabella and N. University.
Jackson Jr. was taken into custody and arrested for aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a handgun under 21, and having no FOID card.
Jackson Jr. was taken to the Peoria County Jail after his arrest.
