PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria family is safe after an electrical fire at their home on North El Vista Avenue.
A tree fell onto their house late Sunday night, hitting power lines and sending electricity through it. When firefighters arrived, they found sparks flying and fire already burning on the back of the home.
The family—an adult and two children—got out on their own before help arrived.
Crews cut power to the home quickly, and had the fire out in just ten minutes, keeping the flames from spreading inside.
Damage is estimated at $20,000. No injuries were reported.
