PEORIA, Ill. (25 News) – The current president of the Peoria Park District announced Thursday that he is running for a third term.
After eight years serving on the Peoria Park District Board as President and more than 30 years as a trustee, Robert Johnson, Sr. said that he wants to continue to make the park district one of the best in the nation.
An avid recreational user of the parks himself, Johnson said that the core of his re-election campaign includes safety and quality of the parks. He added that the park district is already a great resource to the City of Peoria, but some areas can still improve.
“We want to make sure that our citizens, all citizens, all walks of life, all creeds of people, will have safety and enjoyment of this beautiful park district that is a very good amenity to our city. We make Peoria a great place to live here and to work here,” said Johnson during a press conference on Thursday.
Johnson said he is passionate about serving another four years, if elected. He added that his goals also include expansion of services and facilities to various areas including Peoria Heights and West Peoria.
As of Thursday, Johnson does not have someone running against him.
