PEORIA, Ill. – If you plan on visiting a loved one at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria, check their gravesite for vandalism.
Aaron Comte tells WMBD’s “Greg and Dan Show” that someone hit the cemetery Tuesday night, stealing copper and brass fixtures right off the mausoleum. They also ripped brass vases off dozens of graves nearby.
Cemetery staff have actually recovered those vases, but they have no way of knowing which graves they belong to.
If you have a loved one buried at Springdale, call the office at 309-681-1400 or email them at office@springdalecemetery.com to see if they’ve found your vase.
Peoria Police want to find the people behind this, so if you saw anything suspicious near the cemetery Tuesday evening, or if you have any doorbell or security camera footage from the area, reach out to the police department at (309) 673-4521.
