PEORIA COUNTY, Ill. (25 News) – Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins said there was no danger to the public after the Peoria Fire Department’s Hazardous Materials Team was called to a crash Monday evening at a rural intersection.
Minor injuries were reported after the two-vehicle collision that involved an Illinois Department of Transportation truck at West Smithville and South Stone School roads in Trivoli Township.
Watkins said the IDOT vehicle was transporting special road construction equipment used to measure pavement density.
The sheriff said inspectors found the equipment remained intact after the crash and posed no danger to the public.
The Peoria County Emergency Communications Center said at 6:45 p.m. that the intersection of Smithville and Stone School roads was closed. The intersection reopened about 9:10 p.m., according to the ECC.
