PEKIN, Ill. – (25 News) -Conversations about data centers are back in Tazewell County this month, as a county board committee plans a discussion on Tuesday.
The Tazewell County Board’s Land Use Committee will host Allan M. Green, Logan County’s Zoning Department Officer, to give a presentation about that county’s data center ordinance.
According to Land Use Committee Chair Russ Crawford, the invitation was extended to provide guidance for Tazewell County board members drafting their own regulations.
“I wanted to give a heads up to the committee, who are sort of the authors, along with the zoning office, of what that language will be in our data center ordinance,” said Crawford.
“I’m trying to help the committee smooth things out a little bit.”
WAND News reports Logan County does not have a formal data center ordinance, as new data center applications remain pending.
According to Crawford, amendments will be offered to Tazewell’s proposed ordinance including one on renewable energy, specifying guidelines for battery storage units, solar and wind farms.
Crawford invites the public to come to the committee hearing Tuesday, July 14 at 5 p.m. at the Tazewell County Justice Center community room (JCCR) in Pekin.
