IRVING, Texas – Caterpillar reached a historic mark in its 2nd quarter report.
For the first time, the company generated more than $20 billion in sales and revenues in a single quarter.
The $20.5 billion is up 24% from the $16.6 billion in the 2nd quarter of last year.
In a statement, Caterpillar credits a higher sales volume of $3.1 billion and a favorable price realization of $595 million.
Caterpillar reported a profit per share of $7.77 in the 2nd quarter, with an adjusted profit per share of $8.17.
The 2nd quarter operating profit margin was 20.9%, up from 17.3% at the same time last year.
Caterpillar reported an enterprise operating cash flow of $4.4 billion, and $6.7 billion of enterprise cash.
