PEORIA, Ill. – A man was sentenced to multiple decades in prison for attacking his ex-girlfriend and stealing her firearm last year in Bellevue
The Peoria County State’s Attorney Office says 36-year-old Adonnis Dent will spend 35 years in prison after being found guilty of Home Invasion in July.
The incident occurred in the early morning hours of July 7th, 2025, where the victim reported that Dent woke her up and attacked her at her home on N. Apple Blossom Boulevard in Bellevue.
The victim reported that Dent struck her multiple times, took her firearm from her nightstand, dragged her out of the bedroom, poured a cup of urine on her, and fled.
Prosecutors argued for a lengthy sentence because the incident occurred in front of a child, and stated that Dent was a danger to the victim and to society, with the sentence necessary to protect the community.
