TAZEWELL COUNTY (25News Now) – Police said they broke up a party in Creve Coeur with a large number of underage drinkers, and arrested a homeowner who allegedly hosted the weekend gathering.
Creve Coeur Police said they responded Saturday night Oct. 24 to a home in the 600 block of Pekin Avenue along with officers from East Peoria, North Pekin, and Marquette Heights.
In a release posted on the Creve Coeur Police Department’s Facebook page, authorities said they encountered a large group of people between the ages of 16 and 20. Several others were older than 21, according to police.
Investigators said breath samples of several people showed alcohol concentrations ranging from .03 to .160+.
Police said they arrested the homeowner, Andrea Miller of Creve Coeur. She was released on a notice to appear in court, police said. They said juveniles were released to parents and guardians.
The department released the following statement:
“The Creve Coeur Police Department takes the unlawful consumption of alcohol by minors seriously. This is not about ruining fun for young people. Large gatherings involving underage drinking can create significant risks to the safety and well-being of those involved, including the potential for impaired driving, alcohol poisoning, injuries, and other criminal activity.
Adults over the age of 21 should understand that allowing, providing, facilitating, or knowingly permitting underage drinking to occur at a residence or gathering can result in criminal consequences. CCPD will continue to respond to these incidents and take appropriate enforcement action when violations of the law are identified.”
