PEORIA, Ill. – A Chillicothe man charged in an accident almost two years ago that claimed the life of another Chillicothe man is reporting to jail for the crime, but will not be there long.
Peoria County Court records indicate Michael Ladd, now 30, reported to jail Tuesday to serve the 180 days he was sentenced to after pleading guilty earlier this year to a charge of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence.
But, the records indicate he’s eligible under the law for day-for-day credit, which will essentially cut Ladd’s sentence in half.
Ladd operated a utility vehicle in late-January of 2020 that rolled over and crashed in a field near Centerville Road, killing Brandon Buckley, 20.
The coroner says Buckly died of multiple blunt force injuries.
