NORMAL, Ill. — Measures are reportedly being taken to mitigate an infestation of bedbugs inside the Rivian electric vehicle plant in Normal, Illinois.
The insects were spotted on several forklifts in an isolated area of the facility.
25 News reports that the electric car maker has engaged a professional pest control company to help deal with the problem.
A company representative says all forklifts in the affected area have been quarantined and treated and, as a preventative measure, all other forklifts and tuggers at the plant are slated for treatment as well this weekend.
All warehouse spaces will reportedly be treated.
The company says the pesticide being used to eradicate the bugs is 100% effective and safe for people and the planned use has gone through Rivian’s formal chemical approval process.
