EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The SPHL President’s Cup Finals will go to the limit.
The Peoria Rivermen fell Thursday night in Game 4, 3-1 to the Evansville Thunderbolts.
The best-of-five series is now evened up at two games a piece.
The winner-take-all Game 5 for the championship will take place Saturday night in Peoria. Puck drop at Carver Arena is at 7:15 P.M.
Evansville opened the scoring at 9:17 of the 1st period with a Derek Contessa goal. Tyson Gilmore scored at 1:07 of the 2nd period to give Evansville a 2-0 lead.
Peoria’s Michael McChesney scored moments later at 2:41 to cut the lead in half. But the final score of the night was an empty net goal by Evansville’s Jordan Simoneau.
Rivermen netminder Mick Latinovich made 19 saves on 21 shots, while the Thunderbolts’ Kristian Stead made 26 saves on 27 shots.
