EAST PEORIA, Ill. – East Peoria’s City Council approved a measure banning vaping and smoking at Levee Park.
Commissioner Mark Hill noted that the ordinance banned smoking but allowed smoking in vehicles.
“You could be in your car and all the windows down, and all the doors need to be closed, but the windows can be all down and puffing away,” Hill said.
City Attorney Scott Brunton explained that the intent was to allow those who wish to smoke to do so in the parking lot, away from the actual park.
Levee Park, which officially opened last September, is set to be the new home of the East Peoria Farmers Market.
The Farmers Market will open for the season on Friday, June 5th.
