PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man has been identified as the body found in the Illinois River onTuesday morning.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says 45-year-old Damien Gulliford suffered acute drowning, adding there was no evidence of trauma or foul play.
He says Gulliford was identified through tattoos and fingerprinting.
Gulliford was found near the Bob Michel Bridge between 8:30 and 9:00 A.M.
Harwood says how and where Gulliford entered the water remains under investigation by Peoria Police.
