PEKIN, Ill. – Leaders in Pekin are raising concerns about CityLink bus lines that service the city.
On Monday night, the city council tabled a vote on approving an intergovernmental agreement with Greater Peoria Mass Transit for the three service lines in Pekin for a cost of up to $210,000.
CityLink representatives were not at the meeting due to scheduling conflicts. Councilman Dave Nutter says there’s a laundry list of items he wanted to bring up to CityLink at the meeting.
“I’ve got some suggestions that we move where the downtown bus stop is,” Nutter said. “I want them to clean up the street from all the oil and grease that’s down there.”
Mayor Mary Burress concurred with Nutter on the oil and grease concerns. Other concerns from councilmen included a lack of communication from CityLink on issues, and safety issues with apparent homeless people in the downtown area.
Council documents state that the three service lines in Pekin serve approximately 100,000 riders in Pekin each year.
A vote is expected to take place on July 27th.
