PEORIA, Ill. – The search for Alexis Scott continues, and Peoria’s Police Chief wants someone to come forward with any information regarding her disappearance.
Wednesday marks nine years to the day that Scott was last seen. She was last seen at a house party at around 5:00 A.M. on the 100-block of Richmond.
On Tuesday at a press conference with Alexis’ mother, April Allen-Scott, Police Chief Brad Dixon says it’s still an active investigation, but is being treated as a death investigation. He says there has been no evidence recovered so far that indicates Alexis is alive.
Dixon says April has a direct line to the police department, in case a big break in the case occurred. He adds that the police department is still receiving tips at a rate of about 1-2 months. But Dixon wants someone with the “courage” to come forward about Alexis’ whereabouts.
“We’ll take any and all tips that are provided,” Dixon said. “We need to find her. This family needs closure.”
April spoke at the press conference about the toll her daughter’s disappearance has taken on her and Alexis’ son. She says they have done “everything they can” to find Alexis, and that some days are harder than others.
April is still holding on to hope that she will be found alive someday. But she knows that might not be the end result of the search.
“I also have to go with the evidence that’s been found so far that leads to, she may not be here anymore,” April Allen-Scott said.
April says Alexis’ son, now 11 years old, is doing well, but does not remember his mother as much as she used to. She says that occurred at around age 5 or 6, and includes losing memories of her voice and things Alexis used to do with him.
A community event is being held Wednesday at 5:30 P.M. at the Long John Silver’s on N. Knoxville to keep Alexis’ name in people’s minds. The event is also a food drive for the Peoria Friendship House.
