PEORIA, Ill. (25News Now) – Peoria at-large city councilman Zach Oyler announced Wednesday that he is running for a fourth term.
Oyler has been on the city council since May 2017.
He wants to continue economic development in Peoria, bringing more retail to the city. Oyler also hopes to revitalize Downtown and bring more living options and first-floor businesses there. He feels that his position as a real-estate agent and property manager makes him well-equipped to help solve housing shortages, since he understands the market.
“I think I’ve shown over my time in public service that I’ve been a consistent and available voice for the public. Whenever somebody needs something they know that they can get ahold of me and I’ll do my very best to solve the challenge that they have,” Oyler said.
When 25News asked about his biggest successes from his first three terms, Oyler said he helped revitalize the Warehouse District and eliminate the parcel pension fee.
Current at-large council members are John Kelly, Zachary Oyler, Kiran Velpula, Bernice Gordon-Young, and Mike Vespa. Former city councilman Chuck Grayeb announced he is running for an at-large seat back in July.
