PEORIA COUNTY, Ill. – Public hearings will take place next month on a proposed wind farm project in the northwest portion of Peoria County.
Repsol Renewables of Houston, Tx. is proposing the Four Creeks Wind project. The plans call for using more than 27,000 acres of land in the Brimfield, Millbrook, Princeville, and Jubilee Townships.
The project plans to power at least 160,000 homes through at least 500 megawatts of wind energy. The land in the county was selected because of its proximity to an existing electric transmission system, as well as minimal anticipated environmental impacts.
Documents provided by Peoria County shows a construction timeline of 18-24 months, with plans to start in the second quarter of 2027.
In addition, Peoria County believes the project is consistent with its renewable energy goals, laid out in the 2009 Peoria County Comprehensive Land Use Plan.
The first public hearing is scheduled for September 14th at 9:00 A.M. at the Holiday Inn & Suites Peoria at Grand Prairie. Additional public hearings, as needed, will take place between September 15-18 and September 28-October 1st.
